Valentines Day DIY Skincare

[POSTED ON: 6th February 2019]

Love is for life and so is your skin. Try these DIY Shea Butter gifts for your Valentine this year. Easy to make, great for their skin, and great for the hard-working women who make Baraka Shea Butter.

Flowers and chocolate are so perfect for Valentines Day, but they can expire quickly and be a little cliche. What about trying something new this year, like a homemade gift? Give the treat of Valentine-themed skincare to your significant other!

For her…

Heart Shaped Lotion Bar

5 oz. beeswax
3 oz. Baraka Shea Butter
3 oz. hemp seed butter
1 oz. illipe or cocoa butter
6 oz. soybean or olive oil
1 ml Vitamin E
180 drops (or around 3ml) skin fragrance oil
2 Tablespoons colored mica of choice
6 Cavity Silicone Heart Mold Pan

Melt the solid ingredients (beeswax and illipe butter) in a double boiler or on the stove. Once the ingredients have melted, stir in the shea and hemp butter. Once all is in liquid form, stir in the soybean oil, fragrance, and Vitamin E. Finally pour the mixture into a mold of choice and allow to harden completely. You can also stir in skin safe mica at any point and mix as well. Finally pull out the hardened soap bars and wrap them with pretty ribbon. Voila!

For him….

Chili and Chocolate Homemade Muscle Salve Recipe

1 oz. cocoa butter
1 oz. shea butter
1 oz. beeswax
.5 oz. macadamia nut oil
.5 oz. sesame oil
24 drops. Chili seed essential oil
12 drops cocoa absolute

Melt the shea butter and beeswax together until liquid-like. Pour in the cocoa butter, macadamia nut oil, sesame oil until it is all mixed and melted together. Follow with chili seed essential oil and cocoa absolute, pouring into the container of your choice. Don’t forget to decorate it with something cute!

While there are many gestures that are perfect for this holiday of love, something as creative as body products, will surely make the receiver smile! There’s nothing like giving (or receiving) a gift that has tons of thought and effort put into it. 🙂
